Wise Women: The Vicar and the Witch. Episode 95: New Year, Old Fear
Saturday Jan 01, 2022
Saturday Jan 01, 2022
In his inaugural speech, US President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, famously said, 'the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.' Today's podcast looks at the price we pay for fear, how we de-sensitise ourselves to it and how it erodes our immune systems. Our immune system can cope with dis-ease OR fear and not both.
We take a look at the work of Dr. Bruce Lipton and the 'Biology of Belief,' hear the story of Suzi's birth and discuss the nature of angels. A couple of snorts of laughter, a touch of profanity and we're off and running for 2022 :-)

Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate this sacred festival. It's Christmas Eve and we are talking about how we spend our Christmases, laughing over mis-heard carols, standing in Sovereignty and offering service.
The Nativity Tray is a beautiful idea told by Sarah Ban Breathnach in her book 'Simple Abundance:
“Legend has it that on the night of the Nativity, whoever ventures out into great snows (or any bad weather) bearing a succulent bone for a lost and lamenting hound, a wisp of hay or some oats for a shivering horse, a warm cloak for a stranded wayfarer, a garland of bright berries for one who has worn chains, a dish of crumbs for all huddled birds who thought their song was dead and sweetmeats for little children who peer from lonely windows, ‘shall be proffered and returned gifts of such an astonishment as will rival the hues of the peacock and the harmonies of heaven.’”

Friday Dec 10, 2021
Friday Dec 10, 2021
A bit of a rant this week about the wasteful aspects of Christmas, greenwashing including the labelling 'widely recycled' and some suggested solutions. Looking at what we can make ourselves including a celebration of Maggy's 'tastes great, looks like something the cat brought in' style of cooking.
N.B. After the rant about chocolates in plastic, fair dos to Cadbury's Roses for bringing out a Christmas tin and putting their sweets in cardboard (though they do still have the plastic wrappers...)

Friday Nov 19, 2021
It's a bit of a stonker of a title today :-) We're looking at how best to shine a light at the advent of Christmas craziness and the giving of gifts. And returning to the importance of language: How WordsWordsWords can become sWords,Swords,Swords.
The poem Suzi quotes is from John Roedel's book, 'Remedy'
